Our Philosophy...

We only want to help you if we can add true value to your organization.  We don't want to do things you can do for yourself. Through our coaching, experience and perspective, we  are able to help you meet your business goals.

We can meet in person or via Zoom / Teams. The first consult is  always free. At any time, If you don't feel you are getting fair value for your consulting dollar and we don't improve your bottom line, then we won't charge you!

Our focus is on long-term relationships with similarly minded people who are passionate about their products and services.  We want to share your joy as we help you grow your  business in an ethical and sustainable way.

Fees

We get it! Cash flow for small businesses is always tight.  Gains from the wisdom and systems a consultant can add takes time to reach the bottom line.  Our first consultation is always complimentary.  Generally, we charge $125 per hour or $1000 / day plus travel. If after three sessions, you are not satisfied that we have added value in excess of our fees, we will refund any amount you request up to the total amount paid.  If we can't add true value to your business, we don't deserve to be paid.

          John R. Dockendorf - Principal

John R. Dockendorf has over 30 years of experience starting and leading small businesses in the service, hospitality, outdoor recreation, and travel industries.

A 1992 Graduate of the Cornell School of Hotel Administration with a master’s in management, specializing in marketing in entrepreneurship, Dockendorf graduated first in his class and earned the prestigious John E H Sheiry Scholarship.

In 1993, Dockendorf founded Adventure Treks, one of the nations most reputable adventure travel programs for teenagers. As its leader over 27 years, he successfully and consistently maintained the highest participant and staff retention  rate coupled with the highest customer satisfaction  in the outdoor industry. He successfully sold Adventure Treks in 2019.

In 2011, John and his wife Jane reopened Camp Pinnacle, a closed, bankrupt and dilapidated legacy summer camp in western North Carolina. Over ten years, they accomplish a $5M renovation out of cash flow and took enrollment from zero to a waiting list that forms in November. Jane and John sold Camp Pinnacle in 2022.

Dockendorf has also worked extensively in the ski and travel industry and wrote his master’s thesis on differential pricing options for the ski industry, a topic coming to the forefront, 25 years later.

Dockendorf has extensive community service involvement and has served his community as an elected member of his Flat Rock, NC Town Council. He has served on the French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Board in Asheville, NC, on the Henderson County, NC  Transportation Advisory Committee and as marketing and public relations chair for Apple Country Greenways.

He has been an active board member for Conserving Carolina, was president of the Mountain Community School Board and was Founding Board Chairman of the French Broad River Academy. Dockendorf also served on the Park Development Board for the Flat Rock Park which converted a 62-acre golf course into a community park with a state-of-the-art playground.

As part of an early retirement filled with ski days and mountain bike rides, Dockendorf loves sharing his hard learned expertise with the next generation of entrepreneurs in the outdoor, adventure, travel, and hospitality industries.
